Nihat
Altıntaş, a fourth year student in the Department of
Industrial Engineering, took top honors at the
International Symposium of Industrial Engineering
Students 2000, held at Üstanbul Technical University
between March 8 and 11. The symposium featured a project
competition among Industrial Engineering students from
several universities.
Nihat Altıntaş won first place with his project,
"Optimum Buffer Allocation in Serial Production Lines,"
which developed new techniques for simulation analysis
of serial production lines. His project was chosen from
a total of 29 projects submitted by students from 22
universities. It was completed as part of the IE 490
course supervised by Dr. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu and Dr. Erdal
Erel.
The organization of participants and the representation
of Bilkent industrial engineering students at SIES was
undertaken by the OR Club. With the assistance of the
club, nine students submitting three projects and two
presentations were sent to the symposium. If you are
