The Industrial Engineering Project Fair and Competition
took place at Bilkent on Friday, May 2, with the
participation of 13 companies and 16 Senior Student
Projects. The ASELSAN project, the ORS Production
Planning and Charting project, the SPEED Market Share
and Profit Margin Increase project, the MAN Project and
the REAL Isle Settlement and Arrangement project made it
to the finals for presentations.
The fourth year students in IE are required to develop
an implementable project in cooperation with corporate
sponsors. These projects introduce students to the
issues faced by the Turkish Industrial sector. The fair,
organized by Prof. İhsan Sabuncuoğlu and Dr. Bahar Yetiş
Kara, included presentations of projects as well as a
concert and a reception. A jury of 5 private sector
representatives and academics chose as the winner of the
contest Group G-TEN with their project “Simulative
Scheduling”.
The group consisted of Burakhan Yalçın, N. Barış Nurlu,
Utku Koç, Alper Karaduman, M. Alper Çorakçı and Sezin
Aydın. According to the group: “Our project was to
develop and implement a decision support system which
controls the feasibility of periodic production plans
and presents the results by means of graphics and
reports of job schedules.” The members of G-Ten added
that they have been working on the project for 7 months
and are planning to continue developing it as a software
package after graduation.
