GÖREP's Work is Rewarded

Summer has come to an end, and Bilkenters have lots of news to share! This includes updates on volunteer projects that Bilkent students are involved in.

Last year we reported on the activities of GÖREP, the Education Project for the Visually Impaired (one of the Toplumsal Duyarlılık Projeleri), which aims to assist visually impaired teenagers by helping them prepare for the university entrance examination. During this past summer, GÖREP volunteers learned that their efforts had produced very pleasing results. Six out of the seven high school students they coached last year did well enough on the exam to enter universities.

In addition, a ceremony held in June recognized GÖREP's work. Uygar Görme Engelliler Derneği, with the support of Çankaya Municipality, presented a plaque to GÖREP's coordinator Kerem Can Yılmaz (IE/III). Accepting the plaque on behalf of the group, he congratulated the visually impaired students and spoke about the project's importance.

For further information about GÖREP, please get in touch with Kerem Can Yılmaz by emailing him at kcyilmaz@ug.bilkent.edu.tr Aslıhan Yılmaz (IR/II)
