Current position: Professor of industrial engineering.
Vitae: Born 1964, Uskudar, Istanbul. Lycee Saint-Joseph, Istanbul 1983 (equivalent to French Baccalaureat); BSc (industrial eng.) from Bogazici University, Istanbul, 1987. MSc and PhD from University of Pennsylvania in 1989 and 1992, respectively (systems engineering). Research: optimization applied to finance and telecom. Post-doc at the Technical University of Denmark ( Department of Numerical Analysis) (1992-1994). Joined Bilkent University in Sept. 1994. During a sabbatical year in Belgium, taught at the Universite Catholique de Louvain ( Institut d'Administration et de Gestion) in Louvain-la-neuve (October 1999 to September 2000), and worked as a guest researcher at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles , Service de Mathematiques de la Gestion. Spent the year 2007-2008 in Princeton University as a Fulbright scholar at the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering.
